Cousins' drug charge dropped: lawyer - Weagles & AFL to blame

October 19, 2007 (AAP)
The drug charge that led to Ben Cousins' sacking from the West Coast Eagles will be dropped, the AFL footballer's lawyer Shane Brennan says. Click for full article

If this is true then what will be the reply from all those clubs quick to jump on the, "We don't want him dirtying-up our lilly-white reputations!", bandwagon?! (viz:Adelaide, Kangas, Richmond, St. Kilda, Melbourne et al). While you would have thought these clubs should be putting as much time as possible into improving their own positions, they have may instead have shown themselves to be pathetic, un-individual sheep of the AFL's blanc mange flock.
This case is an example of the infiltration of politics deeply into sport that has hitherto been considered un-Australian! And if true, Mr. Howard and his and anti-doping henchmen Brandis and co., can take some of the credit.
So, are the Weagles going to be sued now by Mr. Cousins?
When Brisbane picks him up who will scream the loudest? (Will the AFL and Weagles and the 'sheep' attempting to cover their own follies heap more denigration on this wayward, brilliant young man?)

Let's hope Mr. Cousins continues to have the courage and strength to persist in his attempts to overcome the power of the social poisons promoted to him and our youth of today. It might be a good start to ban alcohol sponsorships of sporting events and ban its sale at sporting venues. How serious are you about drugs in sport Messers. Demetriou, Brandis and Howard?

(Damn you Dean Laidley! Concentrate on being the Junkyard Dog and you would have held-off bagging this boy in case we had a chance picking him up!)

What do you think? ( Please comment below)
